It’s snowing cats and dogs

I haven’t seen this much snow, or snowflakes this size, since my first year living in Kingston. And that was Kingston, not Vancouver. Crazy.

Apparently, grocery stores are running out of food. We’re definitely getting creative at my house. With the Christmas party (and turkey) cancelled, this might just be the year to start a new tradition: Christmas pizza.

Three cheers for frozen pizza dough (homemade, of course), tomato sauce (also homemade) and various things in jars (capers, sundried tomatoes and olives). It’ll be like a pizza puttanesca.

As an aside, it’s days like this that I really wish I had one, or all, of the following:

  • A can of condensed milk  (to make caramels).
  • Carrots, celery, green peppers and chicken thighs (to make chicken stew).
  • A size zero circular needle (to knit some cozy socks).
  • Wii (to play Rayman Raving Rabbids – the first one, not the lame second one – and possibly some sort of Mario-based game).
  • Guitar Hero and accompanying plastic guitar (to train for upcoming showdowns).
  • TV on DVD (to catch up on and relive old pop culture): Gilmore Girls, The OC, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or Lost. Note that I own all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the first two seasons of Angel, but due to a marathon-watching agreement with Elisa, these are off-limits.
