The Well-Tempered Chocolatier

Fire bad, tree pretty

May 17, 2009 · 5 Comments

There’s this priceless line at the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season 3. Buffy just graduated from high school, battled the mayor-turned-giant-demon, and saved the world (yet again), and is talking to Giles, the English librarian. Giles goes off on this tangent about the synchronicities of life, the subtlety and irony of the graduation ceremony.

Buffy looks at him and says “fire bad, tree pretty.”

That pretty much sums up how I feel about the IFBC. Not that there was anything like a graduation, fire-breathing demons or vampires (does staying up too late count?) but I’m in a state of exhaustion right now.

So I leave you with this: conference great, brain full. Tweets here.

First of all, I love Buffy, so you win major points right off the bat. Secondly, great meeting you. And lastly, fire bad tree pretty.

I know just how you’re feeling because I’m feeling the same way. I came home and have been kind of lost and wandering since.

So great to meet you this weekend! Let me know when you’re back in the area.

I hear you! I’m feeling pretty sad and empty tonight, but so appreciative for the time we all together.

It was great to meet you!

I think I’ve been wandering around in a daze today. That and boxing up some of my swag so that I don’t have to carry it all home on the plane. Such an excellent weekend – it was great to meet you and I hope we get to do it all again sometime!

It was so nice to meet all of you – I can’t think of another way I would have liked to spend that weekend. Give me a heads up if you’re ever in Vancouver – I would love to show you around!
